About Dr. Marty Frankel, DDS, FAGD
My name is Dr. Marty Frankel, and I have been a dentist for more than 35 years. I have been a seeker of information all my life. I have been on a journey as a lifelong learner, which has taken me to various locations in the world, to study with some of the most brilliant and progressive minds in Dentistry. Somewhere in the evolution of dentistry and medicine, the mouth was conceptually separated from the rest of the body. We can’t “cut people off at the neck” and expect to maintain excellent health. The studies that I have pursued, constantly remind me of the holistic and intimate physiologic connections of the mouth to the rest of the body. The mouth is the gateway to the body. I believe that a person cannot be completely and truly healthy if he/she does not have a very healthy mouth. To that end, my mission is to help people become healthier, happier, and pain-free by learning about and honoring those “mouth-body” connections. Before becoming passionately connected to dentistry, I worked and played as a professional percussionist and drummer. I performed with the likes of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, The National Ballet of Canada, The Canadian Opera Company, The Stratford Festival, The National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, the late jazz singer Joe Williams, vibraphonists Red Norvo and Haygood Hardy, saxophonist Al Cohn, and others. I continue to have a great love for music … especially Jazz! My music experiences have, in many ways, played a major role in the development of my “live view” and the person that I have become. My wife Nancy, whose artwork you see on my website and displayed on the walls of my office, is the artistic talent and designer behind my VISION to create a dental-care-space that treats people with kindness, dignity, and respect. We have 2 wonderful adult children, and our best times are spent with them, their terrific spouses, and our 4 amazing and loving grandchildren.

I have been working in the dental industry for almost 25 years. 20 of those years have been with Dr. Frankel. I love coming to work everyday and being able to learn new things all the time. My greatest reward is seeing my patients’ great smiles at the end of their treatment and feeling their appreciation for what we can do for them.
I live in Toronto with my family. I have two grown children, Matthew and Merrylla. When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love to bake for them and entertain. Some of my hobbies include baking and reading.
